HATE is the fifth in a series of Glitchtale Origins shorts, released on June 2, 2022. It takes place before the events of Kody Fallenfire, Kanashi Fukitsu, Gaster and The Black Beast.
The animatic was directed by Camila Cuevas.
Plot[]
In the climax of the Battle of Determino, HATE attempts to charge at Asriel Dreemurr one last time, but Chara stands in the way to protect his brother. This action reminds HATE of a past memory, saddening it as it disintegrates. Back in the beginning of the medieval era, humans have never known about magic and live as hunters and villagers in the vast forest. In that tiny civilization, Irral bears a SOUL of Determination, making him the only user of Chromatic Magic at the time.
Seeing as to how his neighbors have been suffering from physical injuries during the lifestyle in the woods, Irral decides it is time to finally share his magic with everyone else, enchanting other SOUL Traits among his community to aid in their everyday lives. Years have passed and life in the village has become more prosperous and skilled with the use of Chromatic Magic, but Irral is not entirely happy with his own circumstances.
Just by contemplating his own discontent, he suddenly manifests one of the first monsters into existence, a Goat Monster, who immediately strikes a close friendship with Irral. Some time later, the cheerful Goat Monster encounters a human family that has never seen monsters, so one of them immediately assumes the monster as a threat and brutally attacks it. Before the Attacker can deal the fatal blow, Irral stands in the way to protect his friend and threatens the Attacker with his arsenal of Determination weapons.
Later on, the depressed Goat Monster pleads Irral to kill him by crushing his monster SOUL, since he does not want to live in a world where monsters are discriminated. Irral, heartbroken, enacts on the monster's will, and in his despair, he bears an intense hatred towards humans who have oppressed monsterkind. The burning emotion towards them materializes as dark energy that manifests into the humans Irral hates, thus constructing the entity known as HATE.
